How to extend and modify Content Server functionality

Hi Team,

Is that possible to extend and modify the functionality of Content Server.

For example: We want to encrypt the file before downloading.

There is "Download" menu for a file. So we want to extend the download functionality and add the code which will encrypt the file before downloading.

Please provide the detailed procedure to do this. It will be very helpful.

We are looking to encrypt the files with a password of some sort that the end-user is aware of and that he would decrypt it after the download is complete.

It's just sample use case. Actually our focus is to extend and modify the existing functionality.

We need information regarding feasibility. Is it possible to extend and modify the existing functionality and how to do it?

With reference to your specific use case, we built such a component for Secure Islands in 2015 that allows their IQProtector product to be used from Content Server. Why re-invent the wheel? Here is there website, with mention that they were acquired by Microsoft in late 2015 so not sure if that component is still maintained. They do still list OT as a technology partner however.

On the more general question, of course you can extend and customise the CS interface. People like Pramod and others have invested years in developing that capabilty and if you'd like to do the same suggest the first port of call would be your OpenText Partner Manager who can put you in touch with the relevant resources and training programs.
