Exstream CE 25.3 - PDF/UA - not passing PAC test

Hi all,

I was playing around with PDF/UA creation from earlier versions of Exstream (StreamServe/StoryTeller) quite a bit and always got these errors, when I tested the created PDF against PAC: "Figure" element on a single page with no bounding box!

Has anyone dealt with that before and managed to solve it?

Now with the new version 25.3, that is stating "Improved Accessibility Support for PDF Output" as the first new feature, I was really hoping for improvement. It actually makes the PDF/UA creation easier, but the error remains.

Unfortunately the documentation of the latest version has not been adapted to their new Accessibility features, yet. Maybe I am missing something.

Looking for enlightening!

Hi Tobi, is the graphic an SVG object or something else? If you run it through Adobe Acrobat Professional - what does it say then?

Can you let us know if it is an object in an overlay or within a table?

thanks for the prompt reply. I tried PNG and BMP images, since those were mainly used in the projects of interest.

In my tests, I put the images directly on the page, in a story, a text or add it in an external ssd file and used this as a fragment (overlay and dynamic). All with the same result.

I do not have Adobe Acrobat Professional unfortunately. I am only using the latest PAC 2026 version.

Just for the sake of completeness: Played around some more and I am getting the same error in PAC for JPEG images. No error with SVGs, but maybe only because they are not tagged as figures, but as section.

I already checked that out, but the results are actually not really different, than before. Only the initial configuration of the output connector to produce PDF/UA got easier. So not too satisfied, but since it is the last release, I am not counting on new features in the future.

The changes are not available in the latest hotfix. We are planning to release a new hotfix in a few weeks. I will update here once it is released. You can test it then.
