How to change \ update Workflow attributes after it's been initiated with REST API

Hi,

I want to change the attributes of a Workflow somewhere in the middle of it's lifespan but i need to that externally with an "Execute step" which will run a custom .exe that will call a rest api call that will update the relevant attributes of that process.

I saw some posts in the forum regarding this call :

Somewhat it won't allow me to perform any action despite the fact I use an otcsticket of the Admin.

Look at that step in your instance and see if it is "green"

You can only change step data when the step is "active"

you can only change the data if the user has that permission via Workflow Manager or is the Performer of that step

Workflow Manager is a role in this graphic, the guy who clicks the WF can Change Data, so your REST API should run under the context of that guy or anyone who is part of the Master manager(see that cap). Different organizations create it differently. If you left it at default, <Initiator /> has everything that is considered bad and reeks of a bad WF design.

Also, in this case, the Green Step is active, so you can "ACTION" that step. The forward step hasn't been reached, so you cannot "ACTION" that one. In this diagram, if you send on the Green, then it will get to the next step, and then it can be worked on. If you need to change something without involving steps, you will put on the hat of a WF Manager and modify, change data, reassign tasks, and so on. This is why the role is called a WF Manager.
