Preliminary Hackathon Doubts

I am taking part in the Hacknosis event and have the following doubts (by the way, the things which I will be referencing here will be according to the event page on HackerEarth https://hacknosis.hackerearth.com/#overview ):

In the Overview page under the Tech Stack section, it is clearly stated that no particular language or framework is required but I can't understand what does exactly "The tech stack should include a combination of cloud technologies, data & analytics, and artificial intelligence" meant? A minimum of 2 OpenText APIs will be used (and as OpenText APIs themselves use AI-powered and open-source analytics). So, by just using the OpenText APIs, won't we will be qualifying the above-required aspect?
In the Google Devs Group section, it is mentioned that free credit codes will soon be provided. So, when will that happen (at the start of the submission phase)?
In the Rules section, it is mentioned that a single project can win a min of $5k and a max of $25k. Is that correct or some typo error? If a project somehow caters to all of the 5 themes in the best manner possible, then can that one grab all of the prizes?

Hi Vishal:

To #1: The 2 services from 9 listed. 7 of which are available through the composite API. So yes very likely you will qualify. As some developers may want to use a different set of content services (again your choice) we wanted to clarify the judging criteria. You could still qualify by using the Vertica database and the IoT developer services.

#2: Yes we will be posting them shortly- we are working with Google to get the codes.

#3: Correct IF a single project can cater to all five better than any other submission (for each of the challenges) then it would win "All five challenges".

Does that clear up your doubts?

Thanks for clarifying the doubts, Chris. Just a small follow-up query:

As this is an event revolving around OpenText APIs and their capabilities, so assume a scenario where there are two projects. One has just used OpenText resources and APIs (more than 2) while the other one has just used 2 OpenText APIs (just for the sake of being eligible as a valid project) and that project is largely being run via the Google Cloud Platform & its capabilities.

So, will those 2 projects be treated equally or the former one will be somehow ahead of the latter one?

Because I generally think that being an OpenText event, the former one should be prioritized!

Hi Vishal,

No the goal of the hackathon is to solve the challenge- as presented. We are working on the judging criteria to provide more insight into particulars. 2/3 judges are Healthcare professionals (one in tech, one a clinical) and the scoring is defined on optimizing patient experience- and how the solution does that- not how well OpenText technology does it.

Okay, so a solution that will be solving the problem in the best manner possible by fulfilling the bare minimum requirements is expected. Even other utilities or resources can be used along with OpenText

I will wait for detailed judging criteria to be uploaded on the event page and also I am waiting for the Google codes that we can use to make our projects because the submission phase will be starting soon

Is there specific details on judging that you are looking for?

It was purposely focused on the user experience, to give you flexibility in how you architect the solution.

We can provide more specific details but we will not be proscriptive on the technology.

WRT to the Google tutorial codes, there will be avialable Aug 14th. However there is a significant amount available for free here https://developers.google.com/

Nope, as you mentioned in the reply of 31 July, that you are working on providing more insight into the judging criteria. So I thought you would provide some specifics on the judging process.

Regarding the GCP credits, Google gives free credits in the first sign up and I have already exhausted up those. So, I will wait for the 14th of August to get the credits and incorporate GCP in the project

Thanks for the same. I clicked on all the above links but I am not sure how much credits I got in each of the quest

You have written 1000 credits along with each code, does it mean that each user will get 1k tokens or is it the overall redeemable credits?

As one can submit a project in multiple themes on the HackerEarth event's page, but while drafting a project in there, we have to choose a category from the Themes dropdown and it does not allow multiple selections. So, how can one make a project and submit it under more than 1 category?

TO prevent spam and to ensure HackerEarth requires seperate uploads for each challenge. Given that part of the judging criteria outlined is how does the solution meet the challenge, the reality is that you should have a clear answer based on the challenge; remember the judging will include non-technical healthcare professionals.

Thanks for the reply, sir. I haven't asked anything about the judging or submission criteria in my latest post. I just asked that if a project can cater to more than one theme and while drafting a submission on HackerEarth we can only choose a single theme, them how will you get to know that a project is being submitted under X number of themes.

If there is no way to convey this to the judges, then its upto the judges that how they perceive a solution!

Sir, these are the Quest Lab credits but in order to use the APIs and GCP, we need to have API credits. When those will be provided? With Quest credits, we can just replicate the small demo that is being provided in the Quests
