Redirect "My Documents" windows folder to Users Personal Workspace

Hello, We would like to have each users "My Documents" folder on their laptop automatically redirect when clicked to go into their personal workspace on our ECM content server. We are using Enterprise Connect already and can navigate in File explorer to content server but we want to force all users to use the personal workspace for storage instead of the "my documents" folder on their laptops. is there a path that we can use to redirect it?

Here is what I tried already:

I was able to "pin" it to make a shortcut but I cannot rename it to say "Documents"

Nor have I figured out a way to redirect the Documents folder to go into Content Server.

Ideally the business wants it to redirect the "Documents" folder to automatically go into our ECM system.

I don't think this is something that will be possible.

Enterprise Connect does not expose "file system" locations - it acts as a virtual folder view to Content Server.

Applications that rely on Windows/My Documents will typically expect a file system behaviour so there will very likely be issues with attempting to force this.

  • several posts can be found in a search engine of your choice on how to repoint the My Documents to something else, so that part is doable, the issue seems to be how to address the Personal Workspace in EC as the destination.

  • the name of the field comes from the XML file sent to EC when you connect, so you may need an OScript override to update and replace "My Workspace (****)" with "My Documents".
