Taskspace tree customization

I've customized the task tree in the task tab of Taskspace and I need a little advice taking it to the next step. I've added the ability to expand work_queue nodes & inbox nodes to show the work items below them. I'm having trouble though launching the task manager in the right frame when the workitem is clicked in the tree. I've tried extending the onClickTree method of the tree component class with no luck so far ... so i'd appreciate and tips/advice anyone has to offer
