New Smart UI theme
Hi there,
Can you guys give me a high-level overview of what's involved in creating a new Smart UI theme?
Looking to clone the 'dark' theme and change minor things. Logos, Background color, very basic things.
I would consult the Smart UI SDK if I could get access to it.

Hi Andy,
There shouldn’t be any special restrictions on the Smart UI SDK download… if you can download CS things you should be able to get it.
Can you get this? It’s the current style override package:
https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/llisapi.dll/Open/74323548
If you can there’s some docs, an example theme, and a blank one you can use as a starting point for your own. It’s pretty straightforward once you actually have it – mostly just CSS and whatever additional assets/images/etc. that go with it.
If you can’t but you should be able to… I’d open a ticket for that. Your KC permissions might have gone sideways somewhere.

I am afraid that creating a new "UI theme", how people usually understand that term, is very expensive for CS Smart UI. I recommend you only a basic branding, like exchanging company logo and the background colour.
If you start with other things like header backgrounds in widgets, dialogues and popovers, table row backgrounds on hover or selecting, button and menu item backgrounds etc. you will realise, that there are many styles, which you would have to override. The more differences from the default look, the more work. And as the product gets updated every quarter, you might need to adapt and extend your style overrides. We do not guarantee any compatibility regarding the stylesheets.
If the customer wants to restyle CS Smart UI beyond the basics I mentioned above, I recommend you to discourage them from it, because they would have to pay more, than they would expect. CS Smart UI was not designed to allow theming. The right thing would be filing a feature request about it. Only feature requests will make a problem like this recognised by the OpenText product management.2
