v9 web client running really slowly on windows server 2003 VM
Hi guys,
I am running a windows server 2003 VM that is not networked so has no outbound internet access. The web client seems to operate fine, but when accessing blank forms and trying to run through a process everything just runs so slowly. The designer and engine are on the same VM, and although the designer runs a little slowly sometimes it does tend to sort itself out.
I have gone through all of the documentation and have tried everything but I am really struggling now and its very frustrating. In the meantime I will try another VM and check for other settings again. Any advice on this would be great.
Thanks in advance guys.

Hi Dai
We have no problems with speed of web client. We have also Windows Server 2003 on MS HyperV.
We have big problems with speed of designer running via remote desktop

OK thanks Greg.
I have just create another VM and I am getting the same issue.
Basically when accessing anything off any of the lists it just hangs for ages. When it eventually opens (sometimes it doesnt) everything else seems to work fine.
Hmmmmm, something needs to be set somewhere! Any ideas let me know, in the meantime I will keep trying.

Do you have published any procedure? Do you have any dynamic role? could this happen becouse of some role based on lung running query or something? Do you try to check db by profiler (in case of sqlserver)?

I would re-enforce Greg's point, we would need to know what is on the forms in question...
If I understand correctly your To Do, Watch, Blank Forms, etc Lists all work fine...
However when you open something from a list it is slow. Does this apply to both To Do 7 Watch Lists items and the Blank Forms items (both existing folders and new ones)?
Does it speed up with continued use?

Thanks guys.
I have just created a clean VM with a very simple process, that has nothing on the forms at all. All I am doing is looking to move the folders through a process just to see where the issues are. So the database is clean and my install seems to be fine.
The Blank Forms list takes the longest, but when I access folders from the to-do list, although slow initially it does seem to "speed" up. However, going back to the blank forms and kicking off another process is just as slow.

For me, v9 is e x t r e m e l y s l o w for everything that I do, both in the designer and in the user/web interface. It is v e r y s l o w almost on every click. It is in the same virtual environment as my 7.6 which has no performance problem at all.

We have found that v9.0.2 and particularly 9.0.3 are much better performace wise.
We have noted that using version 9 over a remote desktop connection can be quite painful, mainly due to the large amounts of screen redrawing. All virtual machines will use kind of remote connection by their nature, so suffer from this.
You may want to try turning the colour depth down and / or UI features of teh connection off. I would also recommend using he Designer on a local machine, and then connecting the client from the local machine too, if that is possible.
