Web Service for execute360
By Dirk Beveridge
I understand that Global 360 is working on a web service for release 10.8. I am very excited about this news as we have had several requests to provide a way for other application to pass an image number and have the image document displayed to the user. I do have a couple of questions about how this web service would work.
One question I have is how the logon process would work. I understand that the user's WMS user id and password would probably be passed along with the image number that the user wants to display. If the user is already logged onto Workdesk with the same user id would the web service recognize this and still be able to process the request and display the documents? In other words can the user use both Workdesk and make calls using the web service at the same time using their same user id?
Second question is would the user also be able to see any attachments?
Any other information you can share about how this web service will work would be appreciated.

Hi Dirk, I apologize but I am going to have to defer responding to your first question as one of the key project resources is on vacation. Regarding your second question about attachments, the answer is yes they will be able to see attachments. We will provide full access to all the workitem’s contents.

Hi Dirk. Your first question is a good one. Execute360 has historically maintained a single session per user restriction. In the web service world, this is not always acceptable. We are working on the design at this time so I don't have a direct answer for you, but the requirement for a named user to access content via a web service, and perhaps do that in parallel with another existing session for the same user (from a different client) is on our list of design criteria. As we make progress in the design of Execute360 web services, I'll be happy to share teh details with you. With the way things look today, you can probably expect to check in on this in the January-February timeframe.
If you think of any additional requirements or capabilities you would like to see in an Execute360 Web Service, please do not hesitate to let us know.
