How to model BPMN Intermediate Events? (they are not in the modeling language)
I am working with a department who are using BPMN as a process modeling standard. They have modeled processes in another tool using the BPMN standard. This tool has XMI export so we were hoping to use the Provision XMI interface to load the existing process models into ProVision, and then hook them in to the wider business and enterprise architecture. However the other tool includes the BPMN "Intermediate Event". Provision BPMN and BPMN modeling languages do not have an "Intermediate Event". I've checked and the "Intermediate Event" is part of the BPMN standard.
Have other users come across this and how do you get around this?
By the way I've raised a support case 22851 to see if this is an ommision or by design, and if by design, what was the thinking. If an ommision I'm hoping it gets logged as a defect for urgent attention.
Thanks
Jim

Hi Jim - I have encountered the same issue.
Seems like the Provision meta model is missing the notion of an intermediate event that the process waits for. Intermediate events attached to the boundary of an activity are hte only kinds that seem to be supported.
Hoping that 9.0 has more complete support for the BPMN standard.
Cheers,
Prakash

You can modify the modeling language and create a custom object naming it an intermediate event as well as a link. Remember to go into the laws of the modeling language and select the new objects you created.

Yes could do that.
The point though is that if Provision truly supports the BPMN 2.0 spec then intermediate events and other BPMN elements need to be directly supported in Provision otherwise the claim of BPMN 2.0 support is misleading to some extent IMHO.
Cheers,
Prakash
